Australian Flowers in Parrot Vase:
Painted on a 16x16 square board with an attached pale wood frame, this composition features a bouquet of Australian native florals (also South African and Hawaiian flowers, curiously and magically) in a parrot vase styled after stained glass work. The flowers include bright fuchsia or magenta proteas, lovely creamy ocher banksias, gorgeous green, orange, red, and blue birds of paradise (or strelitzias as they are called at home in South Africa) and playfully squared eucalyptus leaves to carry the stained-glass theme throughout the work. The background is painted in my signature thickly applied soft peachy pink
Peony Bouquet:
This bright and playful Peony Bouquet painting is painted on 18x24 birch board with a 2-inch cradle. It features a lavish bunch of open peony blossoms surrounded by eucalyptus and other leaves. The vase offers rainbow starbursts behind and surrounding tropical birds, cheetahs, monkeys and more.
This original, Matisse-inspired, maximalist floral painting will ship from my East Bay studio, lovingly wrapped in layers of acid-free glassine and soft padding.
